Whether you’re coming for a field trip, day camp, tour, or event, some things are helpful to know before you arrive to help make your experience the best it can be!

Farmamerica’s exhibits are primarily outside. We recommend dressing appropriately for the weather, including sweaters, rain coats, umbrellas, bug spray, sunscreen, and outdoor footwear, as appropriate. Farmamerica’s outdoor exhibits are surrounding a 1 mile walking path. Strollers, wheelchairs or wagons are welcome. Our walking path is both gravel and asphalt with some portions continuing onto the grass. Outdoor exhibits are not accessible when there is significant snowfall in the winter months, as these areas are not routinely plowed.

We always recommend booking your tour in advance. Tour are generally open to the public Tuesday – Friday. The first tour is available at 9 AM and the last tour departs at 2 PM. Tours typically last 1-2.5 hours.

Guided tours are a great way to experience the site! This one-on-one time with a guided interpreter is customized to your family’s needs. We are happy to adjust the tour to accommodate young children, or are a great option for retired adults and everyone in between! Don’t want to walk the 1 mile? Consider arranging for a Tram Tour around the site! (Minimum 1 week advance notice and minimum number of attendees required for Tram Tours). Learn more about tour options here.

When visiting Farmamerica for a tour, visitors are welcome to bring a picnic meal and enjoy it on our patio or bring a blanket to enjoy it in the grass. There is no food or drink for sale at Farmamerica. We do have  a water fountain. Bring a water bottle to bring with on your tour or other snacks if you want!

We have large grassy areas around Farmamerica and picnic tables at the Visitor Center patio and at the 1930’s site that are great pitstops to enjoy a snack.

Most buildings are wheelchair accessible with a ramp, with the exception of buildings at the 1850s homestead site, including the log cabin. The 1850s homestead site is only accessible by traveling off the asphalt path through the grass.

Service dogs are always welcome, but we kindly ask for no other pets on site.

There is a drinking fountain on site, but no other food/drinks are available at Farmamerica.

Restrooms are located at the Visitor Center, and during the summer months porta potties are available at the 1850s homestead and 1930s farm with handwashing stations.
