Job Overview:

  1. Care for livestock, feeding and cleaning pens

  2. Configure conference room furniture for special events

  3. Assist with outdoor projects, as requested

What to expect:

  • 10-20 hours per week, varies by season. Fewer hours in winter.

  • Located in person at Farmamerica (7367 360th Ave, Waseca, MN 56093

  • Work directly with farm animals and people

  • M-F, Morning animal feeding shifts, evening barn closing. Rotating weekends.

  • Collaborate with Farmamerica team

  • Range: $14-15/ hour

  • Report to: Kari Wadd, Program Coordinator,  and Randy Wadd, Site Manager

 

What you’ll do:

1.      Care for livestock

  • Feed and care for Farmamerica’s farm animals twice per day, monitoring health and eating habits. 

  • Lift 50 lb. feed bags

  • Clean livestock pens, once or twice per week

2.      Assist with indoor projects

  • Position chairs, tables, and exhibits for venue rentals and conferences

  • Fold tablecloths, as needed

3.      Assist with outdoor projects, as requested

  • Maintain buildings with Site Manager support

  • Remove brush and weeds in gardens

  • Tidy historic buildings during tour season, as requested

 

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum, 1-year experience caring for livestock (sheep, chickens, ducks, pigs, cattle, turkeys, goats)

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and move freely

  • Ability to work mornings, some evenings, and every other weekend

  • Proven ability to follow instructions

  • Proven ability to relate to & collaborate with people of all ages & from a range of backgrounds & experiences

  • Ambassador for Farmamerica and the evolution of agriculture

  • Growth mindset

  • Proven use of effective interpersonal, communication & relationship skills

  • Team-first, “Pitch-in” attitude

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving approach
