Tours

Step into the past with a historic tour.
Our guided, self-guided, and tram tours follow the mile-long time line trail winds from the Visitor Center to the following sites:

Wildflowers and tall grasses by a river with trees and a white church with a steeple in the background on a bright, sunny day.

Prairie

The restored prairie lands show what Minnesota looked like prior to European settlement in the 1850s. Walk through the paths and around the pond to travel back in time.

A rustic log cabin with a small wooden door, set in a grassy area with trees in the background during spring. The cabin is built with horizontal logs and has an overhanging roof, casting shadows on the logs.

1850s Homestead

The original and reconstructed buildings help recreate the authentic, mid 1850s pioneer homestead.

A small white wooden house with a brown shingled roof, three windows, and a black door with a brown railing. The house is surrounded by green grass, trees, and blue sky.

One-Room Schoolhouse

The Gallagher Country School lets you explore what school would have been like in the early 1900s.

A white wooden church with a red roof and steeple, trees without leaves, and a grassy lawn under a clear blue sky.

Country Church

Built in 1881, this Country Church played an important role in the early development of Minnesota. Churches were often one of the limited opportunities for rural families to have special interactions with each other. The church makes a great location for your wedding ceremony.

A farm scene with a large red barn, a windmill, and a small brick building under a partly cloudy sky.

1930s Dairy Farm

In the 1930s, the number of farms in Minnesota reached its peak. Put yourself back in that time period with a fully furnished house, plus the barn and outbuildings. This is also the home to our number of farm animals including pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and more!

A white building with a wooden ramp, stairs, and a silo against a clear blue sky with some clouds, surrounded by green grass and trees.

Feed Mill

The feed mill was built in 1928 and served as a location to grind grains into animal feed for local farmers.

A two-story light blue wooden building with white trim, labeled 'Blacksmith Shop,' situated on a grassy area with a sidewalk leading to it. There are three windows on the front of the building. A red sign on the left provides information about the history of the shop, and a smaller sign on the door also reads 'Blacksmith Shop.' The sky above is blue with scattered clouds, and there are trees in the background.

Blacksmith Shop

The Blacksmith Shop was built in the 1870s and operated until the 1980s. Blacksmiths would help local farmers build or maintain tools, horseshoes or wagons, This shop is unique in that the second story housed the Town Hall for Meriden.

Interior of a community or educational space with seating, farm-related displays, guitars, and a colorful, patterned wall.

Ag Around You Discovery Center

The Ag Around You Discovery Center lets you explore how agriculture has entered your home. As you open the drawers and doors, discover how items in your home connect to the agricultural products they come from.

Our tour season has come to an end.

Tours will be available again beginning in June.
