Fall Field Trip - September 30

  • Farmamerica 7367 360th Avenue Waseca, MN, 56093 United States (map)

STATUS: Room for up to 35 Students

Farmamerica offers in-person Agriculture Evolution Field Trips for 3rd – 6th grade school groups (homeschool groups are always welcome.) We are committed to providing fun, engaging, and educational field trips in a safe and hands-on environment. With the help of interpreters, exhibits, and unique hands-on experiences, your students will learn the rich history of Minnesota agriculture starting in the 1800s and conclude with the discovery of their own connections to today’s agriculture. Ag Evolution Field Trips run from 9:30 AM – 1:20 PM, with a 25-minute lunch break. We ask that students bring their own sack lunch.

Typical field trips at Farmamerica include:

1850s Homestead: Students explore our dugout, hovel, log cabin, and barn to learn how life evolved for families during their first years in Minnesota.

One-Room Schoolhouse: Students compare their schooling experience to that of mid-1900s students, then play era-appropriate recess games.

1930s Dairy Farm: Students explore the barn, meet live farm animals, and see what a home looked like in the 1930s to compare with their homes today.

Blacksmith Shop: Our blacksmith fires up the forge to demonstrate the job of a blacksmith in the mid-1900s and discuss what blacksmiths do today.

Ag Around You Discovery Center: Students complete a scavenger hunt to discover how agriculture is part of their daily lives.
