Consumers Meet a Farmer at Meat-a-palooza

WASECA, Minn, August 14, 2020 -- Farmamerica - MN's Agricultural Interpretive Center near Waseca, MN remains open during the pandemic to provide outdoor walking space, tours, and plenty of agricultural education. Most recently, Farmamerica's outdoor Meat-a-palooza event brought over 150 people together to social distance and celebrate Minnesota-made meats, beers, wines, and spirits, and most importantly the experts behind the products.

Throughout the evening, attendees spoke with local beef and pig farmers, sampled meats and drinks, and even watched Dr. Ryan Cox from the UMN Meat Science Department break down primal pork cuts into popular cuts typically found in the supermarket. Live music and the chance to take home fresh cuts of pork rounded out the evening.

“COVID-19 has impacted everyone and every part of our lives. This event was a nice way to celebrate and thank the farmers who kept working through it all to ensure we had food on our shelves. And it’s a nice way lift up the creative restaurants, chefs, food trucks, brewers, and distillers who pivoted their business models to stay relevant, assist their communities, and keep the faith,” stated Farmamerica Executive Director, Jessica Rollins.
